HomePort Policies — Version 1.0
These are summarized here in plain language. Read each one before accepting it on the signup screen.
1. Terms of Use
HomePort is a private tool to store and organize important documents and get reminders before they expire. Every account belongs to one person, like a bank account. HomePort does not check whether your documents are genuine or whether you are allowed to have them — that responsibility stays with you. There is no document-sharing feature. Deleted items can be recovered for 90 days, then are permanently removed.
2. Privacy Policy
We only collect what is needed to run HomePort — your login details, the documents you choose to upload, and basic reminder settings. We never sell or share your information with advertisers. Your documents are private to your account, with one exception: your own Emergency Access Code, which only works because you set it up yourself. Data may be processed by our service providers (Cloudflare, Backblaze, Supabase, GitHub, Resend, cron-job.org) in Canada, the US, or other locations they operate in.
3. Data Retention & Deletion Policy
Your documents stay in HomePort as long as your account is active. If you delete something, it is fully recoverable for 90 days, then permanently removed everywhere, including the backup copy. If you delete your whole account, the same 90-day rule applies before everything is gone for good.
4. Upload Responsibility & Consent Statement
Every time you upload something, you confirm the image is readable and that you are uploading willingly and have the right to access and store that document. HomePort does not verify document ownership or authenticity — responsibility rests solely with the account holder who uploads it.
5. Emergency Access (Nominee) Policy
Think of this like a bank nominee. You may set a 12+ character Emergency Access Code. Whoever enters it correctly can access your account. You can change or remove this code at any time, and you will always be notified whenever it is used.
